after the last updates Gutenberg (v. 19.4.0), WP (v. 6.6.2).
Now, when I create a new page and I have to insert a new object (like page products, image, or something also), i click on the plus “+” button, the page send me an error like “The editor encountered an unexpected error” and i have 2 buttons like: “copy the text of the article” and “copy the error”.
“This is actually not a theme update problem, but a WordPress one. WordPress.com packages offer the standalone Gutenberg plugin as default. This is not really the right thing to do, since that standalone version is their testing one, which contains unfinished code.
It would be required to deactivate the Gutenberg plugin and keep the version that’s built into WordPress to fix the issue. That does it automatically.”
So I deactivated the Gutenberg plugin (I have the Blocksy companion also installed) and so far so good and it seems like it’s not affected anything else.
However, deactivating it does not solve the problem. The Gutenberg plugin is already the second WordPress.com besides Page Optimize that I had to deactivate.
Both plugins were installed by WordPress.com and provide features that are included in the tariff. Obviously, faulty updates are provided, then faulty updates are installed automatically. And I have to pay for it.
The support writes to me that I have to deactivate and that a solution is being worked on. But I am not notified when a problem is solved.
In the meantime, could you do some tests for me? Would you disable all plugins (keep Gutenberg activated) and try again? If it works, would you then activate the plugins one by one replicating the same steps until you find the one that triggers the issue? That’d help gaining confidence about the fix.
After we recently updated the version, the same error occurred in the Gutenberg editor and it became impossible to edit.
error:

Because we have use the Gutenberg editor module to design the article layout, we cannot currently replace the Classic Editor.
We also cannot disable other plug-ins for testing, which will affect the functionality and design of the entire website.
So we hope wordpress can help us roll out the fix this problem, and please update version as soon as possible.
thanks a lot

could you share your setup (WordPress & Gutenberg versions)?
To understand if it’s the same issue that was reported (and fixed in Gutenberg 19.6), it’ll be also valuable to see the error message. Is that something you can share?
