Embed fediverse posts in WP?
-
Hello,
in this post the author describes, how to embed any fediverse post into an WordPress blog with ActivityPub enabled: https://xabid.com/how-to-embed-fediverse-post-in-wordpress-post/
Unfortunately, this does not work for me. When I post an URL from Mastodon, Pixelfed etc., WordPress tells me, that it cannot embed this post.
Is there any setting in ActivityPub I have to enable?
Thank you very much!

I’m working on the same Problem and need also assitence
My page is htttps://muehlenmeier.netThank you for your work!
I think you are using the wrong plugin. This plugin does not handle embeds, it makes WordPress a Mastodon compatible Node. I think Abid referenced the wrong Plugin(name) in his post.

Thank you, Matthias. Do you have and idea, which Plugin Abid could have meant?
there is a neat little plugin from @mediaformat, that I know: https://github.com/mediaformat/fediembedi
Thank you very much, Matthias. I will have a loo at this plugin, although I’m not sure, if it is still actively maintained.
The author of that post is mistaken: the plugin is irrelevant.
He’s using the WP-default “embed” method for Blocks. The reason it looks okay is that he’s filled the hard-coded height with an image (the window would be the same height without the image.) Also see: My write-up of the WordPress x Mastodon embed issue.
Thank you@opendna! So unfortunately, it seems that there is no easy way to embed Fediverse-posts into WordPress.
