Emails restricted

I created a gift product that is linked to a coupon. I have no email restrictions set on the coupon but when users buy the gift, they get emailed the auto generated coupon. However when they go to use it on checkout it says “please use a valid email” When I check teh auto generated coupon then its restricted to the buyers email. How do we remove all email restrictions on auto generated coupons?
