Download Report CSV Permissions
-
We have clients who are currently showing interest in the Reports generated by the analytics section of WooCommerce.
The user with the role “store_admin” can access this section, select the data they’d like to view and generate a CSV. As most will know, if the CSV is quite large, instead of downloading, it emails the user a link to the file.
The problem we have is that when our “store_admin” clicks the link (within the email) they’re directed to a page explaining they don’t have permissions to view/download this file.
I’ve looked all over and can’t find anywhere I can grant this permission to their user role.
The URL given in the email is:
We searched for the action “woocommerce_admin_download_report_csv” to see if there was a hook/filter we could use to grant this permission to the user, but found nothing.
To hide/show elements of the backend we’re using “Menu Editor Pro” which is essential as they have a number of different staff levels with different permissions and authority. We checked Menu Editor Pro for a permission that could be related to this, but nothing worked. All the permissions related to woocommerce have been granted to the role, but no change.
Not sure what else to try, at the moment, the store_admin is forwarding the emails to us, and we’re downloading the file as an admin and sending them the CSV, which isn’t ideal.
Any light anyone can shed on this would be greatly appreciated,
Thanking you in Advance,
ScottishDev

Hi @scottishdev,
Based on your description of the issue it sounds like the “Menu Editor Pro” plugin or any other plugin you’re using for the user role is not granting sufficient admin permissions to view/download the file.
You may switch to the Super-Admin role if that’s available with the plugin and test if permissions are granted. In general, this is something that you’ll want to report to the plugin developers and check if a resolution can be found.
In the meantime, I will leave this thread open for suggestions that other users may have.
Thanks!
