Does not work with name field

I have installed the plugin and followed the instructions to create the required messages under advanced settings for each field in our basic contact form. The thing is that it is not working for the advanced name field with just the stock standard “first” and “last” name fields in use.

The message shown remains the default “This field is required. Please complete the following fields: First, Last.” and the text I have entered in the “Required error message” field is not displayed at all despite having the checkbox “Allow custom error messages” checked.

I know I have the settings correct as the exact same settings are working for the other fields on the contact form. There is clearly a bug with the advanced name field. This is a problem as it is a field which is used on almost every single web form.

Can this please be fixed?
