Disable multiple role selection

Hello, I hope this is a simple one !

I am looking to remove the “multiple role” drop down from profile editor / creating new user in backend. I would like to switch it back to the standard single choice dropdown.

I didn’t see an option so I am hoping you could provide a filter or something please?

Ideally I would like to disable the multiple choice for specific roles and only let the ‘administrator’ role select multiple if at all. But I am happy enough if I have to disable it globally.

Use case: We have ‘sub admins’ that will be able to create users however if they fail to follow instructions and assign a user account 2 roles it will break what I have done so I would prefer to stop them having the choice.

Edit: I had tried just disabling the plugin which does indeed remove the multi select, but I have enabled taxonomy and type specific settings from the right hand side of the capabilities screen and disabling the plugin seems to disable those settings too so I am a little stuck !
