Different Age Groups Setup?

Hi I was wondering what people are generally doing for say a club which has different age groups i.e. minis, juniors, teens, adults etc?

Would you set up each of the local clubs with those names and then have a competition for each age group?

I was thinking like this because then you can have separate players per age group etc.. has anyone else done anything like this?
