Hello @topgsmir,
You’ve raised a valid concern. Allowing vendors to delete their products without administrative approval can negatively impact a site’s SEO, leading to broken links, lost traffic, and decreased search rankings. A well-structured marketplace should have safeguards to prevent mass content deletion without oversight.
Currently, Dokan does not provide built-in settings to restrict vendors from deleting products. However, there are workarounds to address this issue. One approach is to disable product deletion using custom code, which removes the “Delete” option from the vendor dashboard while still allowing products to be drafted or disabled.
Another method is modifying user role capabilities using a plugin like User Role Editor or Members, which can restrict vendors from deleting products.
For a more structured solution, an approval system can be implemented where vendors submit a request for product deletion, and the admin manually reviews and approves it. This would ensure better control over content removal and prevent sudden drops in SEO performance.
Given the importance of this issue, it would be beneficial for Dokan to introduce an admin setting that allows marketplace owners to control whether vendors can delete products. If you’d like, you can submit this as a feature request here to bring it to the attention of the development team.
Thanks!
I raised this issue 7 years ago
A year ago I requested a fix right here where you said
But they don’t pay attention
They do what they like
Yes I have fixed the issue by coding
I have fixed 100s of shop bugs by coding
What is upsetting:
A plugin with over 100s of huge bugs!
A plugin that doesn’t respond to user requests at all!
A plugin that has bugs similar to this that were reported 7 years ago and hasn’t been fixed!
How does it claim to be similar to Amazon and eBay!
Hello @topgsmir,
Could you please provide us with the feature request number? Having that information will help us discuss this with our concerned team and share feedback with you more effectively.
Thank you!
