Database not backing up

Ever since I changed hosts (now on Media Temple’s grid servers) the plugin will not properly run the backup. Everything else works fine, optimize, fix. However whenI run the backup I don’t recieve any error messages, but when I view my backed up databases, it shows a size of 20kb for each which is not the case since the actual size when I manually export it it from my php control panel (the method I a currently using to back up, the database is 31MB
