Hey! I have had a Google Search Console property for this website, set up since 27 October 2022. A good while ago, Google Site Kit stopped receiving any data. I’ve had some personal things to deal with for a while, so haven’t been able to look at this sooner, and sadly, I can’t say when Site Kit stopped communicating. Looking at the Site Kit Dashboard in WordPress, there are several errors, including data error in search console, data error in analytics, error site not found.

I have tried to redo the plugin setup, but that didn’t work. All key metrics are showing as no data to show. Within the property inside of Google Search Console Dashboard, I seem to have 22 pages which are not indexed, 28 pages which are indexed (totalling 50), despite having only created a total of 34 published pages. When I redo the plugin setup, the error I see is: Unknown Error (code: site not found)

There is no sitemap showing, but I remember adding one a good while ago. There are no manual actions showing, or security issues detected. It’s showing a total of 729 internal links, which sounds like way more than I added. I must have intentionally added 5 or 10 links in total, but most of those would’ve been external links and a few internal.

I did think to maybe uninstall and reinstall it, but I have done this once before and if I recall, it didnt make a difference. The plugin still didn’t work. There was a time some years back, when the plugin was working perfectly, but abruptly stopped after some time.

The site is on WordPress. I’m using Gutenberg and the Kadence theme. All plugins are up to date

Any help or advice for this issue would be amazing,

    Thank you,

    Kate

Hello @kateharris , thanks for getting in touch and explaining your issue in great detail.

The “site not found” error you’re facing typically indicates that when trying to communicate to set up the plugin once more, it’s no longer recognizing your credentials, instead it’s using credentials from a possible previous setup. We can in these instances request a check on your site records on the Site Kit service but before doing that, could you please try performing a Site Kit reset by going to Tools > Available Tools > Reset Site Kit. The reset regularly fixes this issue so hopefully it can do this for you as well.

If you still encounter this issue after resetting which is possible, let me know and we can request a check on the records for you and get those updated if needed.

@adamdunnage thank you so much for this. I was asking ChatGPT about this and it advised to look under the admin settings to reset it, but it wasn’t there. I have reset this now, and everything looks awesome and seems to be working beautifully!
