I still have my child theme activated but I had to get rid of all the mentions to my custom template pages (in mu child theme) in the functions.php of my child to make the website live again? Can you guys help me please.

This is the error I am seeing whenever I uncomment my fucntions.php file to use my template files for the header and footer:

Fatal error: Cannot redeclare generate_do_archive_description() (previously declared in /home/dneherpa/public_html/wp-content/themes/generatepress_child/inc/structure/archives.php:100) in /home/dneherpa/public_html/wp-content/themes/generatepress/inc/structure/archives.php on line 116

    Hi there,

That error would happen if you’ve copied all of the GP files and added them to your child theme.

You’ll want to remove those files from your child theme completely.

Your child theme should only have:

    1. A functions.php file with only your custom functions in it.
    2. Custom template files in the root of the directory – nothing in the other directories (inc for example).

Let me know if you need more info 🙂
