Crop doesn't do anything

Crop Thumbnails Version 0.8.1
using WP Multisite

When I crop an image, it doesn’t crop however no errors are returned either. The image just retains its original cropping.

Here is a link to the image and after saving the image, nothing changes…looks exactly the same.

you will also notice that WP is successfully cropping the image into different sizes so that functionality does exist and is working.

any ideas?
