Core/RSS: Open link in new window (_blank)
-
According to https://developer.wordpress.org/block-editor/reference-guides/core-blocks/#rss I can send the parameter openInNewTab to the default RSS display widget. But it doesn’t work.
I saw that the current version of rss.php (/httpdocs/wp-includes/blocks/rss.php) doesn’t check the parameters for openInNewTab. What is the reason for this difference between reference guide and code? Do I have to write my own plugin? The page I need help with: [log in to see the link]

The requisite code for new tab support is in the latest GitHub version. I don’t know for sure, but I assume it has not yet trickled down to the distributed WP package. Maybe if you used the Gutenberg plugin to implement the latest Beta version, it’ll be in that? (unverified)
@bcworkz , thank you very much! This latest version would solve my problems. Is it poissible so guess when that version will be part of a core backup of WP? My project will only go online in 2026, so I am not in a hurry.

I’m not involved in the release cycle, so I’ve no idea TBH. If I were forced to make an uniformed guess, I’d say it’ll be in either the next minor release (6.8.2); or if not then, probably the next major release (6.9). When that would be is anyone’s guess, but 6.9 is tentatively expected sometime later in 2025.
@bcworkz Again, thank you very much! I will wait for version 6.9. You helped me a lot.
