    Hi there,

I recently discovered your plugin and I think it’s really great!
There’s just one thing I’m still struggling with a bit:
How can I set it so that the PDF is displayed with selectable and copyable text instead of being shown as an image?

That would be super helpful — not only for me but also, I think, for SEO purposes.

I’d really appreciate any help or advice on this!
    Best regards,
    Oli

    Hi @oli89 ,

    Thanks for contacting us!

PDF Embedder already displays PDFs using real, selectable text; there’s no additional setting required for selectable text. If the text can’t be selected or copied, it usually means the PDF itself is image-based (for example, a scanned document).

To make text selectable, re-export the file from a text-based source (like Word or InDesign) or use OCR software to convert images to searchable text. Once that’s done, the embedded version will also allow selection and copying.

In terms of SEO, Google’s bots and those of other search engines will still crawl and index the content of your PDF when using our plugin, provided that the content is text and not entirely made of images. Links within the PDF document (links only work with our paid version of the plugin) will also be indexed by the search engine.

To ensure your PDFs have strong SEO elements, you can include the titleauthor, and meta tags within the document’s properties. This can be added when creating the PDF originally.

    I hope this helps!

    Hey @mwangejack,

Thank you so much for your super fast response!
I’ve looked closely at what you mentioned, but something doesn’t seem quite right. Take a look — on this page:
    https://pflug.suesswasser-aquarium.info/produkte/endlos-gespritzte-rundriemen/typ-c-70/

    This PDF is embedded:
    https://pflug.suesswasser-aquarium.info/wp/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/endlos-gespritzte-rundriemen_Typ-C70-Details_2025-10-24.pdf

If you open the original PDF directly, you can see that I can copy the text there.
However, on the webpage itself, the text is no longer selectable or recognized as text.

Do you have any idea what could be causing this?

    Hi @oli89,

I reviewed this with our team, and currently, we do not have a feature that enables copying or highlighting the text from within the embedded PDF. I do agree it would be super helpful, though, so I’ve added this as a feature request to be considered in future development planning.

I apologize for the confusion and while we can’t provide what you’re looking for right now, I appreciate the suggestion and any other details you may be able to provide! It’s always helpful to get insights from our users.

Please let me know if you have any further questions!

@mwangejack Thanks a lot for the replay. I hope you can bring this feature out soon, I would even say it’s a basic feature that should really work, so I happy to hear you guys are working on it. Bdw. would be great, if this can be part of the free version!

Please feel free to ask if you need a test of the new function

    Best reards

    Hi @oli89,

Thanks for for sharing your thoughts; it’s greatly appreciated.

This feature is currently on our feature request list and is still under consideration. At this stage, we aren’t able to confirm whether it will be included in the free or paid version, but your feedback will be part of the discussion as we evaluate the best path forward.

Regarding testing, we usually complete all testing internally before any release, so we may not need additional testers; but your willingness to assist means a lot.

While I can’t provide any timelines yet, please rest assured that your feedback has been noted and will be shared with the team as we continue planning future improvements.

    Thanks!
