Hi, I am installing WordPress onto a Debian, text-only environment.

After retrieving and decompressing latest.tar.gz I opened wp-config-sample.php with vi but I have noticed that each line in the file ends with ^M.

I checked other WordPress files such as index.php or wp-load.php but they seem fine, the only one affected seems to be wp-config-sample.php.

Any idea why this is occurring? Can I ignore the ^M?

    Thank you,
