I am also having exactly this issue. Everything else is working. I just updated everything, and I am using the Divi theme by Elegant Themes. WordPress and the theme are functioning correctly and so is the Yoast except for this one bug. Seems strange.
Sometimes strange behavior may be caused by a plugin or theme conflict. The fastest way to rule out conflicts is to deactivate all non-Yoast plugins and switch to a standard theme like Twenty Sixteen. If this resolves the issue, you have a conflict and should activate one plugin at a time until you locate the conflict. Finally, after all plugins are active, switch to your theme. This will narrow down the conflict to a specific plugin or a theme conflict.
If you are unfamiliar with checking for conflicts, we wrote a small guide that will walk you through the steps. You can find it here: How To Check For Plugin Conflicts
I too have the same problem. I followed the suggested steps above (deactivated all non-Yoast plugins, and then switch to theme Twenty Sixteen. Not only did the highlighted areas appear when using Twenty Sixteen, but I also received different data results.
Theme Twenty Sixteen indicated I had 7.8% of sentences with a transition, but Divi indicated I had 27% of my sentences with a transition! I’m pretty sure the problem lies on Divi’s side.
I have divi and noticed the same issue- did anyone find a solution?
I too have this problem, except that I don’t have the Divi theme – I’m using Storefront by WooCommerce. My concern is that this isn’t accurately representing problems on my live site… has anyone at Yoast seen this before?
UPDATE:
15 minutes after posting this originally, I tried switching my visual composer plugin (I currently use visual composer) to “classic mode”, or basically plain text mode. When I clicked the “mark results in the text” again, the text is highlighted in purple! So it’s not about a conflict with the plugins (at least for me), it’s about using a visual composer or WYSIWYG editor in plain text mode. @jumpstar17, @starr15, try that if you have a visual editor plugin active. It might not be a conflict after all.
