Hello, I’ve read elsewhere that WPML has some issues with object cache. They advise to use some plugins but I don’t like them. Do you think you can make it work with wpml or that it’s impossible ?
Hello @hellodracon !
That’s a first for me (the fact that a plugin have the ability to not be “compatible” with WordPress native features)… Do you have some resources (articles, docs, etc.) about this “incompatibility”?
Hello, sure thing !
Here is a simple google search with a lot of results about it.
A page by wpml about some issues and what do to about it (= open a ticket..).
There is no real doc about it but as you can see from this thread (with a link to the wpml doc about object caching), someone tried some OC plugins (and yours) but always has problems.
The only info I could give from us is that when we deactivate your plugin, wpml works great. As soon as we activate it, we have some stuff going weird. The problem is that wpml adds a lot of queries and object caching is very useful with this plugin.
Thanks
Yes, I agree with you, object caching with such plugins is obviously “mandatory”… But what is strange is, as all object caching plugins show similar errors, it’s something THEY do in their plugin.
Never minds, I will try to contact them to understand what’s the culprit. By any chance, do you have the mu-plugin they propose to fix these errors?
Unfortunately no. But I could ask if you want, let me know.
And yes, I also think there is something coming from their plugin and not yours.
Ha yes, that would be cool to see what they do in this mu-plugin 🙂
I’ve asked them the link. As soon as I receive it, I’ll let you know.
Meanwhile, I discovered that I had to deactivate the plugin (APCu) to activate one of my payment plugin on the Woocommerce > Payments page (and then I can reactivate the plugin). If I don’t do this, the payment plugin never gets activated (or after multiple tries). Am I doing something wrong ? Should I do something else when this kind of thing happens
Thanks
The more I see the symptoms the more I’m asking if your hosting support all APCu features…
Can you tell me what’s your hosting?
I am so sorry, I transferred this from someone without verifying and I tried it afterwards and it works great. I can (de)activate the plugin payment without any problem.. i’m so sorry for this.
The hosting service is Infomaniak (cloud server). It supports APCu, I had to activate it myself.
Forget about this, I’m really sorry. I’ll let you know as soon as I get news from wpml
Hello Pierre, hope everything’s good. Did you by any chance find the time to have a look ?
Thanks
Hello, I’m so sorry, did you look at the file ?
Thanks !
Hello @hellodracon
Now that the checkbox (about WPE) to connect to wp.org has been removed, I can finally reconnect. Sorry for the inconvenience and if it happens again, feel free to go through Github: there’s none of that bullshit about WP vs WPE.
Yes, I’ve looked at the file and I’m a bit annoyed. Basically they say “we don’t know how to use WordPress cache so don’t let WordPress cache what WE do”… Well, that’s a strategy! But not the kind you’d expect…
That said, a first solution is indeed to use the file they propose. Have you had a chance to try it out?
Hello @pierrelannoy
no worries and thank you for taking the time to let me know.
I waited for your answer to try it as I didn’t really know what it would do. I’ll try it and let you know.
Thank you
Hello, sorry for the delay. Wanted to properly try it. It is worth when we activate the plugin. Admin is slower than without it.
