Clickable featured image for a sticky post.

So I have been trying this for a while with no luck. As the topic title states, I’m trying to make the Featured Images for my homepage sticky posts to be live and clickable in addition to the titles.

The method that I’ve tried that doesn’t seem to be working is to surround the ‘<?php the_post_thumbnail(); ?>’ with ‘“>‘. I’ve tried this in the content.php and the page.php files per instructions that I’ve found elsewhere on these forums. My thought is that I’m just not modifying the correct php file.
