I have installed the latest version of the “Smash Balloon Custom Facebook Feed” plugin.

When I add a source, it let’s me login, but when I hit the “Add” button, nothing happens.

    This “Add” button:

I tried on various Browsers. To no avail. The Instagram plugin worked like a charm.

    EDIT:

Also this dialog does not work for me. Nothing happens when I click “Next”. And yeah, I checked the console for errors. Nothing.

    Any advice? Thanks!

My apologies for the experience you had with our plugin. If I understand correctly, when you are redirected back to your website after connecting your Facebook account, then selecting your Facebook page(s), nothing happens when you click Add. The issue you described could be due to a conflict with another plugin, or an issue with your website’s database.

To check for conflicts please try temporarily deactivating all other plugins on your website, and activating a default theme like TwentyTwentyFive. You can also use a plugin like Health Check that allows you to deactivate plugins for yourself while they remain active for your visitors.

If there are no conflicts, we’ll need to Investigate further. Please submit a support request via the form on our website, https://smashballoon.com/support/, and include the System Info.

To obtain this information, please follow the steps on this page: https://smashballoon.com/doc/how-to-get-system-info. We ask you to use our form, as the System Info contains other website information from your site, which we do not suggest posting here.

Thanks for getting back to me so fast!

Disabled all plugins, except the facebook feed plugin.

    • I click “+ Add Source” in the General settings.
    • It’s redericting me to Smash Ballon
    • I click “Connect to Facebook”
    • Since this is my gazillionst try, it seems to have the credentials stored and goes to fb, where it reads that I have been connecting before and if I want to use following profile. I click “yes continue as…”
    • This brings me back to my website where I am presented with screenshot 1 from above
    • When I click “Add” nothing happens. No consol errors. Just, nothing.

Is there a way to reset the Smash Ballon fb feed plugin and start from scratch?

If that is possible, and doesn’t work, I will go to the forum.

    Thanks!

    Hi @alframe,

Sorry for the confusion, the screenshots you shared were previously not displaying for me for some reason. When I came back to check on this ticket they started displaying. The “Select a Facebook page” with the Add button should display a list of Facebook pages linked to your personal Facebook account. similar to this screenshot: https://a.supportally.com/i/aQHqvh. To fix this issue on your Facebook account please visit the following Facebook settings page: https://www.facebook.com/settings/?tab=business_tools (while logged into your personal profile).

Click View and Edit next to the Smash Balloon WordPress app, and ensure all the permissions are toggled on, then click Save. After that your Facebook pages should start getting listed when you are redirected back from the connection wizard.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Thanks again Nigel!

All options are switched on, except the one where it asks to set the visibility of the business integration. That one is set to “me only”.

Should, could I remove the app and start over?

EDIT: I think it is because the fb account is not yet verified as a business. Actually, it’s an association (Verein in German). But could that be the reason for it not to work?

Yes, you can delete the APP and start over. However, please note that if you connnected any other Facebook pages to feeds, you will need to reconnt them too. Your business does not need to be verified to create a Facebook/Instagram feed.

I hope this helps! Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thank you very much for your guidance. I figured it out. I am not a fb user myself, setting this up for a client.

But apparently I needed a page. Now that I have one, everything seems to work.

    Hey @alframe,

Glad to hear the issue is resolved now. Yes, you do need a Facebook Page to display feeds Facebook does not allow creation of feeds on personal Facebook accounts for privacy reasons.

Do not hesitate to reach out if you need us again.

    Best Regards,
