Cannot Authenticate with Google Drive

I installed Updraft Plus 1.7.35 (using Word Press Add Plugin panel), created a Client ID and secret using the Google API interface, and entered the details accurately into the Updraft Plus settings page.

When I click on the authentication page, I get the following error:

Error: redirect_uri_mismatch
The redirect URI in the request: http://www.codysisco.com/wp-admin/options-general.php?page=updraftplus&action=updraftmethod-googledrive-auth did not match a registered redirect URI

Hi David,

I read the FAQ before I submitted the question. I should have mentioned that.

I copy and pasted the Redirect URL from the UpdraftPLus page. Likewise, I copy and pasted the Client ID and Secrets, so the problem is not that the URI don’t match, despite what the error message says.

I know other users have had this problem. I’m hoping you can help pinpoint a solution.

Wait! I figured this out.

The problem is with Google’s new Cloud Console…It creates a very sneaky error.

When I went to the old APIs Console interface, I discovered the URI had been truncated (even though it appeared correct in the new Cloud Console interface AND in the error message).

I fixed the URI and now authentication succeeds.

I know this thread is from a while back, but I had to post a comment to thank codybriansisco very much for his solution to this problem that’s bugged me for months on end with UpdraftPlus. I searched high, low, far and wide on other threads but with no joy.

After reverting to the old console now, everything’s authenticated.

Additionally, I would strongly suggest to the authors of UpdraftPlus that the Google Drive setup information should be rewritten to stress to other users to use the old console while setting up their Client ID/app so as to avoid the same problems. Also, the screenshots of the ‘new’ Google API console used in the current documentation do not match what Google has now.
