    Hello Support,
if I try to put a custom shortcode on my page, it only shows the month but not the day or year itself. Basically no numbers are shown.

I want the date to look like this:

    5th March

    or even better

    05. March

Could you please help me with this issue? Would it be maybe possible to add these options (without year) when edited in the WordPress Gutenberg Site Editor?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Best,
    Florian

    Dear Florian,

Thank you for using my plugin, Current Date. I appreciate your feedback!

I have added your desired date formats, and you can now easily display them on your website using the following shortcodes:

    • For “5th March” format: [current-date format='jS F']
    • For “05. March” format: [current-date format='d. F']

Additionally, you can use this feature within the Gutenberg Block Editor:

    • Simply go to your page or post editor and search for “Current Date” in the block selection.
    • Here’s a visual guide: How to use it Gutenberg editor.

You can also explore all pre-built date formats available in the plugin here: Date Format Preview.

To access these new features, please update to the latest version (1.0.3).

Let me know if you need any further assistance!

    Best regards,

    Hello Noruzzaman,

Thank you a lot for the really quick reply and for updating the plugin, I appreciate it! I was able to find the “5th March” option in the Gutenberg Block Editor but not the second version:

    For “05. March” format: [current-date format='d. F']

Also the date was still shown March 5th instead of March 6th, even though in my time zone it was already March 6th. It only changed once I changed the date format in the Gutenberg Block Editor.

Maybe it was also because the plugin was not updated? I cannot say for sure, because I did not check between updating the plugin and changing the date format in the Gutenberg Block Editor. Just something I wanted to let you know.

Thank you very much in advance!

    Dear Florian,
Apologies for these issues. I updated quickly and did not recheck your query. I thought I had resolved your issue, but when I checked again, I noticed this mistake and have now fixed it. Please delete the previous plugin and install the new one. I believe you will get your expected date format in both the shortcode and the Gutenberg editor.

    Hello Noruzzaman,

don’t worry! thanks again for your quick reply and implementation. The other date format works now! However, the main problem ist that the time does not switch automatically in my timezone (Berlin). I just waited until midnight and when I refreshed it still said March 6th even though it is now after midnight March 7th.

I also reloaded the page and deleted the cache but it did not change anything (see screenshot). The date only resets if I use the Gutenberg Site Editor after there is this error “Block contains unexpected or invalid content.” and I click on “Attempt Recovery” (see Screenshot).

Not sure how I upload the screenshot, therefore a Wetransfer link: https://we.tl/t-rKsYhdKQRj

If you could somehow fix this it would be great as otherwise the plugin would not function correctly and would be kind of useless. Thank you very much in advance!

    Best Regards,
    Florian

    Hello Noruzzaman,

I just wanted to ask if it worked with the screenshots or if you need more information from me to fix the problem?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Hi Florian,
I think this might be a timezone issue. Can you check your timezone settings to see if it’s correct? Go to Settings > Timezone and make sure your correct timezone is selected. Then check if the right date is being displayed.

    Hello Noruzzaman,

I did this already before, because I assumed the same problem. The timezone was correctly selected for “Berlin”. I switched it now manually to UTC +1, maybe it works then?

Will let you know again after midnight, but I think this will not fix it.

    Best Regards,
    Florian

It also still said March 6th until now when I did the manual fix again in the site editor by clicking “Attempt recovery”.

    Hello Noruzzaman,

unfortunately, setting the time zone did not fix the problem. Is there a solution to this problem or can I somehow provide you with more information?

    Hello Noruzzaman,

unfortunately now there is no “attempt block recovery” message anymore, but the date still does not change after midnight and stays the same. I also checked the time zone / format but everything seems to be correct. I also checked if it might be according to the universal time instead of the local time, but it still did not change the date.

Is there any way how to fix this problem?

Thank you very much in advance!

    Best Regards,
    Florian

Nevermind, it still shows “Attempt Block Recovery” in the site editor, but it did not show it directly after midnight as it used to before.

    Hi Florian,
I apologize for the delayed response. I have updated the Gutenberg blog functionality in a different way and reviewed it. The date is not updating in Gutenberg. Last week, I implemented a different method. Then I found out that the Gutenberg core behavior for dynamic data, which updates regularly, doesn’t update instantly. My plugin updates to the current date but doesn’t update to future dates. I’ve made a plan to rebuild it in a different way and will publish it as soon as possible. Actually, our other methods, like Shortcode or Elementor, work perfectly. I suggest you please use the shortcode—it automatically updates the date as you want. Thanks.
