To clarify — the free version of WP File Manager already includes almost all of the core functionality available in the Pro version. As an admin, you can fully manage files and folders, upload, download, edit, and organize them directly from your WordPress dashboard.
The Pro version is mainly intended for scenarios where you want to:
- Provide front-end access to the file manager, or
- Grant other users (besides admin) access with specific permissions.
That’s why you see additional settings related to roles and frontend display in the demo screenshots — those apply only when you need to extend access beyond the admin user. Therefore, it is part of the paid version to keep it going.
