Hi @regenpfeifer,
Some of my test environments with BackWPup 3.8.0 were updated to 5.6.2 today and I don’t experience any issues.
To rule out a conflict with a different plugin, can you please disable all other plugins and then re-enable only BackWPup?
Could you please also share the error you are receiving? Thanks!
Kind regards,
Niklas
Thank you @niklasinpsyde,
I have now deactivated all other plugins and activated only BackWPup. Furthermore I have deactivated the “Chaplin” Theme and am using the standard Twenty-Twenty-One Theme.
In this scenario I am getting no error message, but only a completely empty page with no page elements, only the theme-background-color.
I am using Debian 10 Linux server with Apache 2.4 and PHP 8.0-FPM.
Yours, Hermann Josef
Hi @regenpfeifer,
Could you please try downgrading to PHP 7.4 and also share your PHP error logs if that doesn’t help?
Thanks!
This problem might be related to your PHP version because I don’t think we verified PHP8 support for BackWPup already.
Kind regards,
Niklas
Hello @regenpfeifer
Could you please give us a debug log of the error or a screenshot instead?
Thank you.
Hello, I have switched my WordPress installations to PHP 7.4. Now everything works fine. So the problems seem connected with PHP 8.0.
I didn’t find any specific entries in the Apache error.log. The php8.0-fpm.log shows entries like these:
[23-Feb-2021 19:23:35] NOTICE: fpm is running, pid 10604

Hope, this will be helpful.

@regenpfeifer
The server log: WARNING: [pool www] server reached pm.max_children setting (5), consider raising it
Just indicate that at that time, your site seems got a lot of visitors and got a server limit, you should consider asking the hoster for help with this and it not related to BackWPup
I did a few tests BackWPUp and latest WP 5.6.2 with PHP 8 and found no issues so far, create a job, run job, download file …. worked fine, I even install the Chaplin theme(https://wordpress.org/themes/chaplin/) you mentioned, but see no issues.
In this case, I think the issue might be something else, but I would like to debug this just to make sure, please help me enable WP to debug mode log (here is how: https://help.dreamhost.com/hc/en-us/articles/360029327771-Enabling-the-WordPress-Debug-log)
After that, run the job again, did a few tests, then give us your debug.log file in the wp-content folder.
Thank you so much!
since we haven’t heard back from you, I’m going to mark it as resolved.
If you’re still having problems, feel free to let us know ;),
Btw, If you find BackWPUp is useful for you, we would really appreciate if you leave a positive review and rating.
This would encourage us to develop new free features and provide free support 😀
