You can try to select “Português do Brasil” at
WP Settings -> General -> Site Language
and WP will download your language file.

I think I am in the forum for the Ultimate Member plugin, right? I am referring to the error messages which appear when filling the forms and the like. My WP is in PT-BR, however, the Ultimate Plugin gives me the error messages in English.

Well… there are tens of messages in the whole process.
For example:
the email you entered is incorrect
Your password must contain at least 8 characters
And so on.

Please, help.
The RELOCATE instructions are not clear to me (https://docs.ultimatemember.com/article/1449-how-to-translate-plugin#loco). I am confused where to store the translated files so that they won’t be changed when the plugins are updated.
Which one among these options should I choose:
plugins/ultimate-member/languages/ultimate-member-pt_BR.po
languages/loco/plugins/ultimate-member-pt_BR.po
languages/plugins/ultimate-member-pt_BR.po

Will be removed during UM plugin update.
languages/loco/plugins/ultimate-member-pt_BR.po
Can be used as a backup.
languages/plugins/ultimate-member-pt_BR.po
Will be used by UM/WP for the translations.
Can be updated by WP when a new localised file is found by WP.

I’m still unsure whether the translation will always work or whether every now and then I’ll have to restore the translation… how can I be sure that I won’t have to worry about that anymore? Thank you very much for your attention!

I do have access to CPANEL, but after reading the file and the instructions I did not grasp where exactly to place the file in my wordpress site. Thank you for caring.

You add the “Disable auto translation updates” file to .../wp-content/mu-plugins/

There is no such directory in the list.

You can create the directory with FileManager or a FTP client.
