Autograding not working

I am new to Sensei and have the Free Sensei LMS plugin installed on a project website.

I have added a lesson block that is a quiz at the end of each module of my course. These quizes have 3-4 multiple choice questions that I have toggled to be auto-graded.

Currently, when a “test student” completes a quiz it tells them it is awaiting grading and as the teacher I have to go in and click “grade”. However, we want the answers to be shown when the student completes the quiz – how can we achieve this? What settings are we missing?

I add that I have Sensei 4.9.0 and that it seems that when I reenter each lesson that has a quiz, under the quiz settings the “autograde” is untoggled.

I’m not sure if I fully understand the problem here. Is auto grading not working even when it’s toggled on?

Could you please share a copy of your site’s System Status? You can find it via WooCommerce > Status. Select “Get system report” and then “Copy for support”. Once you’ve done that, paste it here in your response.

Hi Saif,

I couldn’t find the Status Report as I don’t have the WooCommerce activated as we are using the free version. Is there another way to get a status report or see possible errors?

To try to clarify – we select/autograde – click update and then when we come back to the lesson quiz – it is unselected.

It doesn’t seem to stay selected and we are aren’t sure if this could be due to our theme (we’re using Twenty Seventeen) or another setting.

Hi,

Please navigate to Wp-Admin > Sensei LMS > courses, you will see the course you would like to edit, click edit. You will see the lessons (If they are created). Make sure to edit the lesson, you can add a quiz, go to the quiz settings, double check that it is auto grade.

I created a course, and it is giving the grade automatically.

I understand this is already toggled on your site, can you please switch the site theme temporarily to Storefront, or the Twenty-Twenty and see if this makes a difference?

For some quizes, the Auto grade- toggle as highlighted by @ihereira, is toggleable but will not save when turned on.

I had to edit the “_quiz_grade_type” meta value from (postmeta table) the quiz from “1” to “auto” via the database. There was a “1” value already there.

This happened on the latest version of Sensei.

Edit: I have run into an additional error after making this change, so I recommend awaiting the fix from Sensei itself (see comment below).

This is a known issue/bug with the current version of the Sensei LMS plugin. Our developers are working on a fix for the issue.

Yes 🙂 The fixes are set to be released with the next version 4.11.
