Attaching documents

Hi,

Being fairly new to WP, am I missing something about how messages are to be attached to a post/page in order to be shown in the document list?

The only way I know to attach documents is via the normal “add media”. By doing this, I get a normal link to the document. Adding the [documents] shortcode to the post/page does not make any difference, i.e. no list of documents is shown as this plugin should do and the ‘normal link’ remains.

How should this be done properly?
