Archives in 1.3

Have been running WP 1.3 alpha-4 (now 11.11) for a while. One problem: clicking on archives only shows some of the entries for the month. Like this, which should have many more entries. I tried Nicer archives and the same problem occurs.
I noticed that I can change the number of November entries showed in the archives if I go to Options > Reading > Show the most recent > #.
Should that be? The above options shouldn’s affect the archive listing at all, right?
