    Hello,

Should we be manually adding the site name to every meta title, or is this automated? I was told some time ago that it is a good idea to include the site name in every meta title.

    Thanks for your advice

    Hi @dav74 ,

The site name is automatically added to the meta title. Please see this docs for more details.

    Hi @rilwis

Thanks for your reply. How do you calcuate in this regard the length of the 60 character limit? If the site title is not included in this, then the site title in many cases will be over 60 characters after you append the site title. Thaks for your thoughts / explanation.

    Hi @dav74 ,

The length of the meta title is calculated includes everything in the meta title. So if you don’t set the meta title manually, it will be “Post title – Site title”, e.g. site title will be included in the calculation. If you set the meta title manually, it will calculate only the meta title that you entered.

    Thanks @rilwis for the explanation.

Just an idea – It might be a good at some point to add a character counter for when you add the meta title / description manually. Some of us have to fine-tune meta titles (and sometimes the meta descriptions if using page builders which pulls in page builder code rather then text), and it is a bit of an arduous task to count manually the characters here.

Here is a screenshot of the automatic meta description generated on my pages due to using Elementor: https://ibb.co/mNKfKX1 However I think most SEO plugins have this issue here where page builders concerned.

    Hi @dav74

We already have counter for meta title and description. Please see our docs for the screenshots:

Our plugin works with Elementor, so I hope there’s no such weird characters output as that πŸ˜‰

    Hi @rilwis

I’ve just bought your schema plugin but am having problems getting the meta title / description to display on a CPT. I have sent you a support message with a link to the page, and waiting for a reply on that. Thanks!

Actually it is not a CPT I am having issue with, but a “terms” page created with dynamic content. Anyhow – I sent you an email. Hopefully you can help me to get it to work πŸ™‚

    Hi @dav74 ,

The Slim SEO Schema plugin is for generating schemas/structured data and it’s a different things than meta title and meta description.

Regarding “terms” page, the meta title and meta description are also auto generated with Slim SEO. Meta title will have format “Term name – Site title” and meta description is generated from the term description.

Thank you for your explanation. That has helped! Apologies I am still learning about schema right now πŸ™‚ I will drop you a ticket as you suggest, as you have resolved my issue with the meta title for terms.
