We have just noticed that when adding or editing a post the default template is open and editable. It is also prompting for a “Featured image” which we have not seen before, and I can see no way of switching this off. WordPress version 6.4.3; theme is Twenty twenty-four. PHP recently updated to version 8.3. Has something changed in the theme to cause this? Screenshot below.

  • Hey @duncanwestlake,

I believe the show template option is enabled, which is why the template shows when adding/editing a post.

If you want to turn this option off, head over to add/edit post and click the view icon, and uncheck the show template option. The screenshot below should help you locate it.

For the featured image issue, what error/message is displayed when you try to save the post without a featured image? On my test site, I can save a post without the need for a featured image. Could you provide more information on the featured image prompt? You could also provide a screenshot to help us see what you are experiencing. This guide should help you do this: https://make.wordpress.org/support/handbook/appendix/adding-screenshots-on-the-forums/

    Cheers.

That’s it! Many thanks for your help and I wish I had thought of looking there, having tried all the Settings places. Switching off the show template option also removed the Featured Image, so we have no further problem with that either.
