Adding image to date php code

Hello! I have a ProPhoto blog template that I am using to customize my website. The customized template has a date format that includes a heart on either side of the date (contained within a banner). I was hoping that there might be a way to change the hearts to an image that goes with my logo (a bird). I don’t really know much about php – still learning a lot. So, I don’t even know if this is possible.

It is very, very, very much in the building stages at the moment, so be aware that it is a work in progress! But you can see if you scroll down a little bit to the mock post, there is a teal banner with the date for the post, and hearts on either side of the date. Is there a code that I can use to change the hearts to an image of my own? If so, would I need some sort of a plug-in for that? If so, what kind of a plug-in would I need?
