• First, I do love your plugin! And I own the Pro version.

I have some accessibility issues to report that my testers have found when interacting with the plugin.

    1. line 60 of your style.css. The focus has outline-offset: -3px. This also sets the focus color to blue. Well, a lot of us use blue in our color palettes. So the negative offset puts the highlight inside of the element area. Meaning if blue background is used, the offset blends right in and is invisible. The request is to remove the negative offset.

    2. on the same focus topic, you specifically set the offset color to #109cde. That color may have no contrast with the surrounding colors. So I’d request that you allow for either it to be a user settable value, or to allow for theme/browser defaults to be inherited.

    3. many people with low vision zoom their monitor. This triggers the hamburger/mobile menu to appear on desktop. This mobile menu has no hover effects for when someone is hovering. That makes it more difficult for these low vision users to interact with the menu.

    4. The mobile menu toggle is a <span> element. And even though it does have role=”button” on it, it does not function with the space bar like buttons do. It only functions on using the enter key. It would be improved for usability of keyboard users by being an actual <button> element. The triggers for submenus are <a class=”max-mega-link”> with a role=”button” and those do function with the spacebar. So the inconsistency is confusing to the testers. They expected the trigger to open the menu to be the same as the triggers within the menu (buttons that open with either space key or enter key).

    5. The testers really liked how on desktop the right and left arrow keys were able to navigate between top level items. They would love to see the up and down arrow keys able to be used on submenus, and on the mobile menu.

    6. The testers wanted a border around the mobile menu. On the mega menu and the flyout menu a border was available. They found borders to be very helpful in understanding where the menu ended and the page content began.

Thank you for all of your hard work over the years, especially in regards to accessibility. You are by far the most accessible mega menu plugin, and the solution for a great many theme menu problems.
