• Testing Participants Database, I am FREQUENTLY getting 503 Service Unavailable messages. I have called hosting support and it was suggested to clear cache, which may seem to help, but I can’t function using this tool if this keeps happening. What suggestions do you have?

This message typically means the server has run out of resources (memory, disk space or CPU) but these are not easy things for you to monitor so you know which it is. Your hosting provider should be able to tell you what is going on…their response to you is really the first thing to check, there’s more they can do if clearing the cache doesn’t fix it.

From the plugin side of things, if the plugin is using too much memory, the best way to deal with that is to either get more memory or look at what’s going on with memory use on your site in general. (there are plugins that can do this) The plugin makes every attempt to be economical in its use of resources, we’ve gone through several cycles of optimization. However, if it turns out there is a specific plugin functionality that is causing problems, I’m happy to take a look at that.
