502 errors

We are getting 502 timeouts when using the Send to Groups function with ITThinx Groups integration.

We had this issue before on the same site https://wordpress.org/support/topic/502-errors/

We now have 3,860 users split into 113 groups.

The problem seems to be related to a max execution time set by WPEngine.

It seems the Send to Groups page loads all groups and all users in those group in order to build the select list on creation of the page. Would it be possible instead to use something like Select2 https://select2.org/data-sources/ajax to have an ajax select field that only loads groups/users on search? ie. you must type in a few letters before it queries anything. This would make the queries smaller.

if so I’m happy to work on it but could use a little help.
