great. re-uploading the default wp-comments-post file just erased all the comments in the history of my site.
can someone please provide some support? it would be greatly appreciated.
changing the .htaccess back to the bare minimum does nothing either. so it has nothing to do with a plugin, htaccess, or the template… what a mystery.

the issue was a broken table in MySQL. I just put in a command to repair table wp_comments and everything works — all my comments are recovered and commenting works again! 🙂

this is NOT a theme-specific issue. I have tried several themes and commenting does not work on any of them.
my current theme just redirects commenters back to the post they commented on, but without their comment published. most other themes – including the default – greet commenters with a 404 page.
I have tried everything — changing the permalink structure, re-uploading the default wp-comments-post file, trying different themes… but comments are still not being published.
for instance, try commenting on this page: http://obscuresound.com/2011/09/rozwell-delta-del-rey/
after the comment, your browser will redirect you to http://obscuresound.com/2011/09/rozwell-delta-del-rey/#comment-0
on IE, the window’s name actually turns to “Rozwell, Delta, Del Rey — Obscure Sound#comment-0#comment-0#comment-0#comment-0#comment-0#comment-0” and so on.
my site’s ability to take in comments is very valuable, so hopefully this can be resolved.
any tips would be greatly appreciated.
