Today, on April 21, 2026, we are launching the campaign . Women Defend Rojava for a fee and democratic life a to defend the achievements of the women’s revolution in Rojava.

Since the beginning of the war of aggression led by the Syrian transitional government and the Turkish state on January 6, women and their institutions have been systematically targeted. During the massacres at the beginning of the year, women were murdered, tortured, and taken hostage. Their institutions were looted, destroyed, and burned down.
This entrenches a system in which women are oppressed, isolated in their homes, and subjected to extreme misogyny. These attacks on women are a weapon of war, used to suppress the entire society and spread fear and paralysis by targeting its center—its heart. By attacking women, the entire society, a free life, and a free future are being attacked.

With the agreement of January 29, which provides for a ceasefire and the integration of the Autonomous Administration into state structures, the war has shifted from the battlefield to the negotiating table. However, this does not mean that the mentality of the Syrian transitional government has changed. The same people who only days ago were murdering women and are now spreading black veils in Raqqa are now sitting at the negotiating table. To prevent the ongoing massacres and to end the genocidal war, an agreement is necessary.

This also offers an opportunity to enshrine the achievements of the revolution in the constitution and to influence all of Syria by insisting on democratic values. The most difficult issues in these negotiations are the institutions for women and the principles and rights won through the women’s revolution. While agreement has been reached on questions of military integration, resources, and infrastructure, women’s rights are still not mentioned in the agreement: the consequences of the agreement for women’s lives remain uncertain. However, it is known that the achievements of the women’s revolution—won through more than 15 years of struggle—will not be abandoned. The resistance of the women of Rojava is decisive.

As part of the campaign, we will present a different sector of the women’s organization each week and publish articles about it. In videos, women from Rojava will report on the current status of the negotiations surrounding the integration agreement. They will describe what they have built over the past 15 years and what must now be concretely defended.
