Peter was born on 5 October 1916 in Wolverhampton, the son of Major Charles Edgar and Elizabeth Ida Dodd. In 1921, the family were living at “The Poplars”, in Penn, along with his sister Bridget Isobel. His mother, Elizabeth, unfortunately died in 1931. His father remarried, to Beatrice Middleton, in 1933.
He enlisted with the 6th Battalion of the South Staffordshire Regiment (service number 95343). He was taken prisoner. On 13 April 1943, he died in a prisoner of war camp in Bavaria. His address by then was given as 12 Oaklands Road. The value of his effects was £1165 15s. 3d. Peter is remembered on the Roll of Honour for Tettenhall College (which he presumably attended), and is buried in Durnbach War Cemetery in Germany.
