The son of Noah and Mary Ann Agnes James, George was born in Wolverhampton in 1909. In 1911, the family were living at 236 Dunstall Road, Wolverhampton, including George and his parents, George’s twin brother Robert, and sister Daisy. In 1939, George married Lilian Ethel Huband in Bilston.
George enlisted as a Sergeant in 1933 with the 7 Medium Regiment of the Royal Artillery (service number 1068349). George’s father, Noah, had also been a Sergeant in the Royal Field Artillery during the First World War. Unfortunately, George was killed in action on 22 July 1944 in Normandy. He is buried in the Bayeux War Cemetery in Calvados, France.

Harold Bellingham was born in Wolverhampton on 4 March 1894, the son of Harry and Sarah Jane Bellingham. In 1901 they lived at 3 Lamas Street, together with Harold’s siblings Richard Henry and Hilda Gladys. By 1911 they were at 144 Leicester Street, and were joined by 6-year-old visitor, Jessie Pumford. Harold was an engineers turner at the locomotive department of a Railway Company.
