Frank was born in Wolverhampton in 1888, the son of John and Caroline Jane Peplow. They were living at 13 Franchise Street in Wolverhampton in 1891, along with Frank’s siblings John Thomas, Edith Jane, Ernest H., Samuel, Walter, Florence, William and Albert E.. By 1901 they had moved to 55 Cobden Street, and there were an additional three children – Elsie M., Harold and Gladys M. Frank’s father, John, died in 1908 at the age of 55. By 1911, the widowed (Caroline) Jane was living at 6 Elm Farm Road with Samuel, William, Frank, Elsie, Harold and Gladys. Frank was working as a cabinet maker.
Frank initially served with the King’s Own Yorkshire Light Infantry (service number 46895), and was later transferred to the 1st Battalion of the Northumberland Fusiliers (service number 25424). He was killed in action on 27 September 1918. He is remembered on the Vis-En-Artois Memorial in France, as well as on the war memorial of St Luke’s Church in Blakenhall.
