Profile: Christian Henriot (\u5b89\u514b\u5f37) is Professor of Chinese history at University of Lyon and a Senior Research Fellow at the Institut Universitaire de France. He is the author and editor of several books, including Prostitution and Sexuality in Shanghai, 1849-1949<\/i> (Cambridge UP, 2001),\u00a0 In the Shadow of the Rising Sun <\/i>(Cambridge UP, 2004), Images in History. Pictures and Public Space in Modern China<\/em> (Berkeley, 2012), Visualising China. Moving and Still Images in Historical Narratives (Brill, 2013)<\/em>. Profile: Ma Jun is\u00a0 a senior research fellow at the Institute of History, Shanghai Academy of Social Sciences. Ma Jun has been in charge of the Contemporary Chinese History Studies Section of the institute since 2001. He served as editor of Shilin <\/em>\u53f2\u6797 (History Review) for many years. His research interests include a diverse range of topics\u00a0: Christianity and Confucianism, foreigners in China, biographical works, Shanghai social and economic history, etc.. Christine Cornet is professor of contemporary history at the Universit\u00e9 Lumi\u00e8re Lyon 2.
\nShe graduated from Sciences-Po Aix-En-Provence (International Relations), INALCO) and received her Ph.D. from EHESS. She is the author of several books (in French): The state and modernization in China: the Jiangnan Shipyard, 1865-1937<\/em>, Arguments Editions, 1996; Photographic chronicle of the French Concession of Shanghai, 1840-1937<\/em>,\u00a0 Scheibli, 2003; China 1932: the unbelievable trip of Father Jo<\/em>,\u00a0 Editions Bleu de Chine-Actes Sud; Peasants and rivers,<\/em> Bleu de Chine-Actes Sud, 2005. From 2006 to 2010, she was seconded to the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs as cultural attach\u00e9 in charge of publishing and the humanities and social sciences (French Embassy\u00a0 in Beijing).
\nSince 2011, she is the deputy director of the Lyons Institute of\u00a0East Asian Studies.<\/p>\n

Jiang Jie est doctorant en cotutelle de l\u2019ENS de Lyon (France) et de l\u2019East China Normal University (Chine). Il est dipl\u00f4m\u00e9 de Lanzhou University o\u00f9 il a obtenu le dipl\u00f4me de licence (Histoire) en 2006, puis celui de master (Sociologie historique) \u00e0 l\u2019ECNU en 2006-2008. En 2008, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 accept\u00e9 comme doctorant (Sociologie historique) dans le m\u00eame \u00e9tablissement. En 2009, gr\u00e2ce au programme de coop\u00e9ration entre l\u2019ENS et l\u2019ECNU, il poursuit ses \u00e9tudes doctorales \u00e0 l\u2019Institut d\u2019Asie Orientale \u00e0 Lyon.<\/p>\n

Se consacrant \u00e0 la transformation de l\u2019histoire moderne de Chine (1840-1949), il travaille principalement sur l\u2019histoire sociale et l\u2019histoire urbaine. Actuellement, avec un sujet sur la criminalit\u00e9 et l\u2019ordre public \u00e0 Shanghai au cours de la p\u00e9riode de la guerre Sino-japonaise, \u00e0 l\u2019aide d\u2019un nouvel horizon, il tente de d\u00e9couvrir une nouvelle dimension de l\u2019histoire de cette ville.<\/p>\n

Profile: Shi Lu is lecturer in the\u00a0 Department of Chinese Studies\u00a0at\u00a0 Universit\u00e9 Jean Moulin Lyon 3 and a research fellow at the Lyons Institute of East Asian Studies. She received her Ph.D. (Marriage and Fertility in Shanghai) in December 1991 at the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Her pedagogical activities in education are mainly devoted to the teaching of the Chinese language. In research, she studies contemporary Chinese society, especially\u00a0 demographic aspects and issues of migration.<\/p>\n

Xu Chong (\u5f90\u7fc0) is PhD. candidate at History Center of l\u2019Institut d\u2019\u00c9tudes Politiques de Paris, specialized in Contemporary History. His research interests include History of the State, History of Empire, Urban History, Transnational History and Comparative History, the main research theme is the order and the disorder in the urban society of Shanghai and the French Empire in the 19th and the 20th century. After obtained the Bachelor and the Master degrees of History in Capital Normal University (2007) and Peking University (2010), he prepares the PhD. Dissertation about the defense and the public order in the French Concession of Shanghai from 1849 to 1919, in the pattern of co-direction between l\u2019IEP de Paris and l\u2019IAO de Lyon, under the supervisor both of Jean-Fran\u00e7ois Chanet (l\u2019IEP de Paris) and Christian Henriot (l\u2019IAO de Lyon). He has translated the following books: Ernst Breisach, Historiography\u00a0: ancient, medieval, and modern<\/i>, University of Chicago Press, 2007, the Chinese version will be published by Peking University Press, Peking, 2014; Marie-Sybille de Vienne, La Chine au D\u00e9clin des Lumi\u00e8res: l\u2019exp\u00e9rience de Charles de Constant, n\u00e9gociant des loges de Canton<\/i>, Honor\u00e9 Champion \u00c9diteur, 2004, the Chinese version will be published by Guangxi Normal University Press, Guilin, 2015.<\/p>\n
