So, guess what? Our website is UP AND RUNNING! Some of you may have already seen chatter about it on Twitter, but if you didn't, it's never too late. ;)
ignited designed it for us as well as updating our logo with a brand new Western look! It also features the steampunk cowgirl that cathybites drew just for us! (You'll be seeing her on the postcards and on the official 2012 Wincon t-shirt that you can ONLY PURCHASE if you're attending Wincon. Pretty cool, huh? Details on THAT are on the Registration page now.)
Please, feel free to chime in with how FABULOUS both of those ladies are because they deserve to hear it and we here at Wincon HQ are DELIGHTED by them and their work! THANK YOU!
Things of note for the update:
- We have a completely revamped and updated FAQ! If you're a geek like me, you'll enjoy this. I have been known to read website FAQs all the way through like they're a NY Times bestseller. We put a lot of work into making it comprehensive and easy to read, and if you have any other questions you think should be on it, we'd love to hear about it!
- We've added a Privacy Policy (so you'll know your secret identities are safe with us when you register), a Terms of Use, and a Harassment Policy! In a few months, we'll be doing a special post about our Harassment Policy, what it's for, what it's not for, why it's important, and fielding any questions you might have about it. (Though, of course, should you have any questions now about any of these additions to the website, feel free to email us any time: [email protected] )
- There's a bunch of new information under Programming, not the least of which is a copy of the schedule as it stands now (bare bones, but it'll give you an idea of what we're doing and it will be updated throughout the year, finalized on September 1st). There's also information up on Off-site Activities (the one we already have planned and how to submit yours for inclusion on the website). And the form for submitting panel ideas will be available in February!
We've got so much great stuff planned throughout the year to help spread the Wincon excitement and to keep you all informed and updated, and we hope you all will want to participate and help. What makes Wincon great is ALL OF YOU, and we couldn't do any of this without you. <3
Upcoming: the Official Wincon Podcast hosted by the ever amazing antheia! We just recorded the first episode last night and it'll be available soon (the 20th will be our monthly posting date). This month's topic: Meet Your Con Comm! Find out who we are and why we love Wincon so damn much we're crazy enough to run it! ;)
Today is the last day to get your weekend registration at $85! Tomorrow, the price will jump to $100 and I know that you'll be kicking yourself if you've missed early registration.
In other news, we're still working out some kinks with our new website layout, but it should be up sometime this upcoming week. We've switched hosts and we're really happy with our new home and hope to improve omgwincon.com's functionality and usability. BLAHBLAHBLAH, website stuff! I'm kind of a geek and enjoy the hell out of website geekery (even though I am crap at actually designing it, thank goodness for ignited), so I'm really thrilled about it all.
We have so many excited things planned for the new year and we can't wait to welcome 2012! We here on the Wincon staff wish you all a Happy New Year and we hope you're safe and healthy, wherever you are and however you're welcoming 2012: celebrating, relaxing, working (like me, woe!), or sleeping! <3 <3 <3
The site will be down for maintenance this weekend. We're getting a very gorgeous redesign by ignited, but we need to take the website offline for a couple of days to ensure it all works properly and there are no bugs.
Registration will still be available through our registration service providers, Eventbee, and those links will be in the profile. (Don't forget, we hit a price jump January 1st! We'll go to $100.)
We hope you all are having Happy Holidays out there and we can't wait to see you all soon!
