Albrecht Entrati's trail leads beyond the Origin System. Only by delving into the past can the path ahead be made clear - but buried secrets can be deadly.
—In-game description
For the update of the same name, see U41: The Old Peace.

The Old Peace is a main Quest, released in Update 41.0 (2025-12-10). In an attempt to track Albrecht Entrati, the Operator dives into their long forgotten memories of the Tau System.

Synopsis[edit | edit source]

With Albrecht Entrati having fled to the Tau System, the Lotus has the Operator use the Dark Refractory to review their deep memories in an effort to locate leads. With a dive into their memories of The Old War, they remember being a student of the Tauron Academy stationed on the orbiting moon of Perita, and was once best friends with a  Sentient named Adis. Thanks to the Xenoflora found within Tau which gives Sentients their individuality and detaches them from the hivemind, a peace treaty was formed between them and the  Orokin. However, this peace was threatened by the separatist  Anarchs, lead by Galastra.

The Operator is deployed to fight the Anarchs and later assists one of the Orokin Seven, revealed to be Ballas. After the Operator and Adis graduate from Tauron Academy, they receive an Ayatan from Margulis which contains kill-codes to eradicate the Anarch bases. However, the duo discover too late that Ballas also altered the kill-codes to terraform and destroy the Xenoflora, quickly leading to the dissolution of the peace treaty as the Orokin's forces turn on the Sentients without hesitation. An enraged Adis turns against the Operator and they battle. Adis is convinced too late and greivously wounds the Operator, whom he promptly revives - albeit at the last of his strength, leaving him to die in the Tenno's arms.

With the usage of  Uriel, the Operator storms Tauron Academy in search of Ballas, only to find Margulis, who makes them forget about their time on Tauron in order to protect them. The Lotus declares that Tau is within sight, but it will not be the same as they remember.

Walkthrough[edit | edit source]

“You're not supposed to be in here! You're going to ruin the surprise!”
The following article/section contains spoilers. Please finish the quest before proceeding.

The player must have completed The Lotus Eaters. After starting the quest, head to the Sanctum Anatomica to proceed.

Hide and Seek[edit | edit source]

Amidst a field of fallen Prime Warframes is a Lotus-like flower that the Operator's hand plucks. The Operator quickly performs Transference into an  Excalibur Prime, armed with  Daikyu Prime and  Nikana Prime, as the gigantic  Sentient combat platform Hunhullus appears, scanning the field. The Carrionites will slow the player down and alert the Hunhullus which will fire a  Magnetic laser if it spots the player.

After luring the giant creature into a large crater can the Hunhullus be battled properly. It possesses three health bars, which are invulnerable until its Synovia joints on its knees are broken. Marrowticks can be destroyed to create Anchor grappling points that provide airborne maneuverability and a  Void damage bonus.

Upon destroying the second health bar, Excalibur Prime appears to gain the upper hand in the fight until the Hunhullus knocks them down with a shockwave and proceeds to crush it beneath its colossal foot, which Excalibur Prime holds out against. The sun then rises and the Hunhullus suddenly stops as a smaller Sentient, Adis emerges. The encounter is revealed to be a friendly spar as Adis converses with the Operator, and accepts their offering of the Lotus flower.

The Operator suddenly awakes submerged where they are pulled out by Loid and the Lotus, who are performing Transference therapy into the Operator's memories in order to find Albrecht Entrati. The Operator announces what they had seen: Tau. Loid wants to stop the experiment, declaring that the Operator's memories are being flooded with polluted histories, but they insist they had a friend named Adis and dive back in.

Down the Rabbit Hole[edit | edit source]

After reminicising on their friendship, the Operator and Adis arrive at the Tauron Academy in orbit of the Tau Moon Perita, where a hologram of Ballas announces that the  Orokin have sworn a treaty with the  Sentient. After examining the Tau system, having friendly discussions with Adis, and passing by Orokin Era Prime  Grineer,  Caliban Prime, and an aggressive Cephalon named Daklo, teacher Archimedean Itzam takes the pair to a private room and tests Adis if he adapted to the Tenno Ways. Itzam does not take kindly to the Operator helping Adis, briefly mentioning that the treaty with the Orokin Seven remains incomplete, but the discussion is interrupted by an attack from the  Anarchs, where Korffel instructs them to head to Boro Overlook.

Back to the Front[edit | edit source]

The Tenno and Adis, deploying with  Excalibur Prime,  Trumna,  Akbronco Prime, and  Nikana Prime assist Valdur's Grineer in fighting back the Dax Separatists led by Anarch Galastra, where Adis' song revitalizes his Sentient brethren. During this the Tenno briefly hears The Indifference's voice, mockingly telling them to show no mercy. As the duo approach an enemy cannon, Adis recharges using the Lotus-like flowers from before, which Valdur identifies a Tau native plant called Xenoflora, which causes a disconnect from the Sentient hive mind and individual personalities when they consume it - which is what led to the truce, as the newly independent Sentients grew to value their peace. They then destroy the cannon using the Operator's 3rd ability: Tauron Strike.

Adis then hears a cry for help. The duo come across a giant egg-shaped structure that Adis is wary of, containing a Dactolyst that Galastra forcefully uses the structure to reconnect to the hive mind and return to being a machine, its color changing from blue to orange, and commanded to "repel intruders" by Galastra. The Dactolyst will remain in constant flight while attacking with projectiles and is aided by numerous Battalysts and Conculysts.

After depleting the Dactolyst's health, it suddenly grabs Excalibur Prime and stares at them with curiosity. The Warframe briefly goes limp before reactivating and slays the Sentient with  Exalted Blade. Adis looks on in horror and takes off his mask, his Sentient face shedding a tear, before the Operator is forced back into reality and vainly attempts to apologize. The Indifference's voice booms, aware of the Operator's plans, and the Lotus orders them to dive back into their memories.

Too Far![edit | edit source]

The Tenno briefly sees  Uriel and the Prime Grineer fighting the Sentients before Loid calls out that the Operator was placed too far ahead in time.

Shifted back sometime after the Dactolyst fight, the Operator returns to Tauron Academy without Adis. Itzam questions what they think Galastra's goal is before instructing them to find Adis. They are quickly approached by Daklo who expresses his distrust in the Sentients. The Operator finds Adis at the lookout, returning his mask to make amends, then offers to go on a hunt. Korffel warns the two that they intercepted Galastra's transmissions, dispatching them to Gharman Plains.

Interrogation[edit | edit source]

Equipped with  Vinquibus (Primary) and  Vinquibus (Melee) in place of the previous primary and melee, the Tenno must find and capture Anarch Liberator Lustratus. On the way to the third Lustratus, they scramble a Targeting Node that requires three Authorization Codes dropped by Anarchs to lure it out of hiding. The Lustratus reveal that Galastra is searching for a shuttle that was shot down, and she is able to deny Sentients their Xenoflora which causes them to go feral.

Fallen From Heaven[edit | edit source]

The Tenno quickly return to Tauron Academy and immediately redeploy to Perintol Crater.

Rearmed with Trumna and Nikana Prime, the Tenno approach the destroyed shuttle which was carrying Orokin. They come across a "Palanquin" (functionally a carriage pulled by two Kaithes), before being ambushed by Anarchs. The Palanquin reveal that the carriage holds one of the Orokin Seven Executors. While escorting the carriage, they pass the restrained body of  Uriel. Adis intercepts transmissions from Galastra who reveals that she intends to break the treaty by having a Sentient kill the passenger, deploying a Typholyst.

The passenger is revealed to be none other than Ballas. This causes the Operator to awaken in reality, but the Lotus reminds them that Ballas is dead. Loid urges them to stop the experiment as the Murmur are encroaching, the Cavia have reverted, and the Operator could be trapped in their mind should the Indifference gain control.

Peace in His Hands[edit | edit source]

Itzam warns the Operators not to directly confront Ballas as the last shreds of peace are in his hands. Itzam approaches Ballas while the Operator overhears, pleading him to deal with Galastra as her forces now occupy all of the World-Seeder nurseries while accusing Executor Nitokh as her aid. Itzam then reveals that World-Seeder has a weakness that prompts Ballas to close the doors.

Eden's Ultimatum[edit | edit source]

The Operator deploys to Tohk-Amn, a sacred site for Tauron Graduation, and encounter Adis with Amar. Itzam blesses the two and prays for their continued unity, before leaving them with an Ayatan Sculpture. They are suddenly ambushed by Grineer that have been bred by the Anarchs, while the Operator hears voices from the Lotus and Loid that they may have gone cataleptic. Itzam evacuates on a Parallax, but is shot down before being able to escape.

Down the Rabbit Hole[edit | edit source]

The duo play back the message on the Ayatan. Margulis commands Galastra's death for bringing harm to her loved ones, revealing that she plans to destroy the Xenoflora and that Executor Nitokh and Roathe are indeed assisting Galastra. She instructs them to bring the Ayatan to the Anarch's base in the World-Seeder, which is revealed to be a Zariman, using the Ayatan's command codes to destroy it.

The Operator deploys to World-Seeder.

Assault on Zariman Five-Nine[edit | edit source]

Approaching the command interface, the Tenno can receive a buff granted by another player that lasts 90 seconds, before battling a Commandeered Protea Prime. After defeating it, the player can leave their own buff to assist other players.

As the duo descend the elevator, the Operator is suddenly forced back into reality by a Murmur attack. Loid pleads for them not to lose themselves to their murderous impulses. After defeating the Murmur, Loid warns that the next trip down their memories will be their last.

The Operator installs the Ayatan's self-destruct codes before being attacked by a Commandeered Caliban Prime. Adis restrains Galastra, but refuses to kill her. As the duo emerge from the Zariman Five-Nine, they discover that the self-destruct codes had been tampered with, instead activating the terraforming device, killing Xenoflora blooms across the planet as a result; the Operator realizes Ballas set them up, but Adis swears vengeance against Margulis and sets off to pilot his Hunhullus.

Battle of the Last Bloom[edit | edit source]

The Operator was led to the usual place for sparring as Adis ravages the plains, once again equipped with Daikyu Prime and Nikana Prime. The Hunhullus's last health bar can be made vulnerable by destroying the Synovia on its chest. Communications from Prime Grineer reveal that the treaty has been severed, with the Operator realizing that they and Adis are being blamed for the fallout, but the latter, already in blind rage, refuses to listen.

After defeating Adis with both the Hunhullus and Excalibur Prime out of commission, the pair spot a group of Prime Grineer Bolkor convening on their position, and Adis uses the last of his strength to heal the Operator upon realizing his mistake. After fending off the Bolkors, Adis dies in the Operator's arms, declaring that they will always be together. The Operator requests an apologetic Valdur, who admits he was under orders to ensure Ballas's plan succeeded but could not bring himself to do so, to bury Adis' body.

During this segment, the players can receive and leave buffs as with the previous part before fighting Adis and then the Prime Grineer.

The Long March Forward[edit | edit source]

The Operator solemnly roams Perita, passing by the ruins of war, before finally coming across Uriel and uses Transference into him. Using Infernalis, the Tenno rises into the air towards Tauron Academy.

Retribution[edit | edit source]

Uriel, with Vinquibus and can only cast  Infernalis, storms Tauron Academy as both Prime Grineer and Sentient fight amongst each other (reaching the part where Loid initially claims to be "too far"), with the Operator accusing Ballas of altering the self-destruct codes. They encounter Daklo, who witnessed that the Grineer knew of Ballas's plans and immediately opened fire once the treaty ended. The Operator can choose to spare or kill Daklo.

Casting  Brimstone to open the way forward and expecting to run into Ballas, the Operator instead finds Margulis, implying she was a co-conspirator in his schemes in order to protect the Tenno. The Operator realizes she will make them forget all their memories of Tau before falling unconscious. As they awake in reality, the Lotus acknowledges that Tau is now in sight.

The quest concludes with an inbox message from the Lotus, awarding the  Uriel blueprint, the Operator Atmosphor accessory, 75  Lyroic Bridge, 75  Ren Hypercore, and 75  Ascaris Prime.

A long-forgotten promise is remembered. The truth of Tau is laid bare, even as the mocking whispers of the Indifference grow louder. Soon the final leap may at last be taken.

Conclusion[edit | edit source]

A popup will inform the player that the Dark Refractory is available through the Navigation console for the game modes The Descendia ( Uriel,  Vinquibus (Primary)/ Vinquibus (Melee)), and Descendia Arcane Enhancements) and The Perita Rebellion ( Galariak Prime,  Sagek Prime, materials to craft Uriel and Vinquibus and purchase Tektolyst Artifacts, and Tektolyst Mods and Arcane Enhancements).

Over Kinemantik Instant Messenger, Loid (username POM2_LAB1) informs the Drifter that three new Protoframes have arrived in the Sanctum Anatomica. Upon returning to the Sanctum Anatomica, a cutscene introduces "The Devil's Triad": Lyon ( Harrow), Marie ( Wisp), and Roathe ( Uriel), and a portal will take the player to La Cathédrale. If the player has also completed The Hex, they can be communicated through KIM. Marie sells Tektolyst Artifacts to unlock Focus Tauron Strikes, and Roathe sells blueprints for Uriel, Vinquibus, Galariak Prime, and Sagek Prime, Descendia Arcane Enhancements, and Descendia and Perita Rebellion Captura. Lyon will only begin to talk once the player has reached "Liked" status on Marie over KIM, where he sells Descendia and Perita Rebellion Decorations.

The Scarred Margulis that appeared in the quest is now available as a Lotus skin from the Market for  50.

The Lotus will move to the Dark Refractory, which can be found beneath the Sanctum Anatomica, and upon doing so, she'll leave her KinePage in her previous spot as the skybox in front of the cliff shows diminished Indifference influence.

Notes[edit | edit source]

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • This quest marks the first time since the closure of Warframe's Founder program that  Excalibur Prime is playable for the public.
    • If the player owns Excalibur Prime, the game will use the player's Config A looks during the quest.
  • After killing the Dactolyst, the Operator confesses that "I killed him", the same dialogue they had spoken during The Sacrifice where they claimed to have killed Isaah sometime after performing a successful Transference on  Excalibur Umbra.
  • Right before finding Margulis at the end of the quest, the Operator utters "Rap Tap Tap, you'll let me in, little piggy.", the same dialogue Rell's spirit spoke during Chains of Harrow, implying the Operator is either influenced by the Indifference, the latter took their words and used them as Rell or the Operator is recalling the words in the "Polluted History" shown by the Dark Refractory as a consequence of both the Lotus and the Indifference being connected to the "memory".
  • Margulis in the quest appears without her eyes, due to being inadvertently blinded by the Tenno's Void powers as mentioned in The Second Dream.
  • Regardless of the choice during The New War, the Lotus will use her Radiant Lotus appearance and name during the entirety of the quest. However, her dialogue and name will change in the final set of dialogue:
    • If the Lotus was the chosen name, she will say "You were used. Just as she was."
    • If Margulis was the chosen name, she will say "We can finally begin to heal."
    • If Natah was the chosen name, she will say "We have already had our revenge."
  • During the escort mission involving the Palanquin, the coach will state that it is authorized to perform "emergency Continuity" on the Operator, as they are the only living being close by in order to save the life of its occupant.
  • The Cavia's state of reversion due to the encroaching Murmur appears to have been temporary, as The Devil's Triad mention to have been conversing with them.
  • The Tauron Strike during Back to the Front is dependent on the current Focus School the player activates before the quest, and will always destroy the Makvos Cannon whether or not the attack hits.
