# Put up the Writer-Signal

*What I've Been Thinking About Lately #83*

I've spent the past two months at [Network School](https://ns.com) (NS). It's a community near Singapore where ambitious people come from all over the world to build, think, and live together.

I've met a lot of interesting people at NS. But the two most thoughtful were both writers. When they left, I kept thinking: how do I meet more people like them?

It's not a coincidence that writers are thoughtful. Writing well requires thinking well. The craft selects for depth.

So if I want to meet more writers, the answer is obvious: become someone writers want to talk to. And writers want to talk to people thinking deeply about the same things they are.

I've written before about why [everyone should write WIBTALs](https://wibtal.com/63). But there's a fourth reason: To find your people. If you put enough quality thinking into the world, it acts like a bat-signal for other people thinking about the same things, calling them out of the dark to encourage and/or challenge your ideas.

This is important to me, so I'm committing to publishing a WIBTAL once a week for the next 12 weeks. If I don't I will burn 1,000 USDC (send it somewhere so it can't be accessed). This post can be used to hold me accountable to my word.

Happy writing :)
