WhiteCity: A LOTR RPG

AFTERNOTICE: WhiteCity was an ongoing "live novel" which ran from 4/03-2/04, in which participants experienced, enhanced, and sometimes altered the events chronicled in JRR Tolkien's Return Of The King -- the book, not the movie. We are in in the process of organizing all WhiteCity storyposts in our Memories section, viewable by character, rating, and in numbered chronological order by "chapter." Imagine you're an ordinary person...well, other than that little movie trilogy you had a bit of a part in, but other than that your life was normal until the day you woke up in an unfamiliar city in an eerily familiar world...

The year is 3019, Third Age. Whoever you may have been before, whatever reality you may have been snatched from, nothing prepared you for this. You're stranded in a fantasy that is suddenly all too real...the sky is darkening, war is coming, and there's no way home.

Welcome to Minas Tirith.

THE EXPLANATION
WhiteCity is a game in which the players take on the roles of actors who appeared in the "Lord Of The Rings" movies. Yes, there are a LOT of these games on LJ. This one has several strong twists, however:

• Characters can be pulled from other games. They still exist in those games, this has no bearing on that. However, it will allow muns to test their favorite puppets within new parameters with a whole new "cast."
  
• This game is set in Middle-Earth -- specifically, in the heart of Gondor an indeterminate number of weeks before the end of the Ring War. It's not a good place to be.
  
• There will be an ending. WhiteCity will play through the end of the War, and there's a good chance characters will be killed. This is up to the players.

THE RULES

• One puppet per player, to begin with. Preferably from an existing game, but new pups can be negotiated. One puppet per actor -- first come first serve, but the mod reserves veto rights.
  
• Canon characters are also available, with mod consultation/permission. Original characters are possible.
  
• You may play in threads or via pasted AIM chats. Use the LJ-Cut for private thoughts, long posts, and OOC notes. If your post refers to other plotlines/posts, please link to them.
  
• Initial interaction with canon characters should be okayed with the mod first.
  
• All mature-material posts must be LJ-Cut and labelled outside the cut.
  
• Last but not least: DO NOT import intermun baggage from other games!

HOW TO POST
In-character posts, logs, etc. = whitecity
Out-of-character questions, issues, etc. = whitecityooc
"Private" posts, anything else you like = your pup's journal

WANT TO PLAY?
You must know how to roleplay -- experience is preferred but not mandatory. You must be over 18. You must provide an LJ and an AIM identity for your character. You must post at least once a week. And you must be able to tell the difference between game and reality. E-mail the WhiteCity moderator to join us! WhiteCity has ended -- no more applications are being accepted. It's been a hell of a ride...
