View From a Hotel Window, 3/27/25: St. Louis!

Not just one parking lot here. But several. Truly, the motherlode of all “view from a hotel window” photos, parking lot-wise.

Tonight! 7 pm! The Clark Family Branch of the St. Louis library! Please come, I woke up at an ungodly hour to be here.

Tomorrow! I’m in Saratoga Springs! At 6pm this time, so be aware of the change in time. But also please attend! I will need to get at an ungodly hour again! There are a lot of ungodly hours in a book tour.

  1. You’re near a lot of good restaurants. If you like Thai and aren’t already being provided dinner, I recommend “The King and I”, which is just down the road. I’m looking forward to tonight’s event!

  2. Let me assure your readers that there are much nicer places to stay in St. Louis (that aren’t overly expensive)!

  3. Looking forward to the program. Fallen out of habit of reading this, not quite sure why / how.
Hope you have good flight home!

  4. You will, hopefully, LOVE Saratoga Springs!! I grew up east of there, and Saratoga was our place to go for fun- Caffe Lena, Lyrical Ballad Bookstore- and, best of all- Hattie’s Chicken Shack!! Seriously good food and highly recommended!

  5. Absolutely loved the book, John. And I have to ask…was the reference to Pope Hilarius II a little nod to comedienne Kathleen Madigan?

  6. Several! The mother-lode, indeed. Your celebrity status is obviously on an upward march.

I wonder if the hotel staff allocate rooms with parking lot views to those with a strange penchant for such things. Not you, of course.

Perhaps America just has a ‘thing’ for building car-parks everywhere? Not in Australia. We build things for lots and lots of people to attend, with no public transport or car parks within at least 10kms. Maybe they are suggesting we need the exercise?

Good work. I look forward to more photos. I’d get really excited if you took a ‘selfie’ with a car park…a more personal experience, with a touch of gravitus.

  7. America, a realm so subservient to cars we’ve warped our language just to accommodate ’em

    consider this:

we park in driveways but we drive on parkways

  8. You should bring a priest along with you; they can bless each morning and so convert it into a godly hour.

  9. Inquiring minds want to know, how long DID the coma question keep you awake and did you make any shareable conclusions? Really enjoyed the talk, and my wife appreciated your wittiness. She’s not a regular reader of yours so kudos.

  10. We may not be good for much but we know our parking lots. St. Louis we love you!!!

  11. Ha ha ha! Well done, HowardNYC.
At least they are tariff free…I think? So far?

Who new car-parks could be so entertaining.

You guys are legends! I haven’t laughed so much since Trump ran for re-election.

Parking lots…”Lets make America great again!”
