Most of the new arrivals fled into cities and villages of Jordan due to the shortage of camps. The Jordan government has allowed Syrian refugees to use basic services available in local communities, which are now feeling the burden upon their economies. To mitigate the influence of the new arrivals, Jordan government took measures that have instead hurt their economic state. According to Jordan Response Plan for the Syrian Crisis 2015 (JRPSC), the Jordan government has provided an allocated budget for its service sectors, while a multi-partner trust fund is funding the remainder of the JRPSC’s budget. Jordan has invested in increasing the ability of its basic services using the JRPSC funding as well as Syrian investments. Despite the negative effect of Syrian refugees on the local communities, the overall effect on Jordan economy has been positive.
