熱帯低気圧とは、亜熱帯や熱帯で海から大量の水蒸気が上昇することにより空気が渦を巻いて出来る低気圧のことです。この熱帯低気圧が発達して風速が 17.2m/s を超えると台風と呼び名が変わります。

▷ 一方、温帯低気圧は、北側の冷たい空気と南側の暖かい空気が混ざりあおうとして空気が渦を巻くことにより出来ます。温帯低気圧が発達して風速が 17.2m/s を超えても台風とは呼びません。
