First time playing combat patrol . Link had painted up a combat patrol Necron force so we were keen to try them out.
The marines muster in search of the data from the wreckage. The Necrons have found the crash site .
The space marines advanced into the ruins destroying the Necron melee units but take two losses from fire on the terminator squad.
The infernus squad find themselves pinned down and unable to harm the Necron vehicle with their flame weapons.
The terminators charge the remaining Necrons planning to capture a second objective marker which they do but are then charged by the overlord and his warriors..
The warriors are easy to defeat but can be fixed through reanimation protocols and wear the terminators down thanks to the overlord himself .
The infernus squad charge out in desperation led by the captain but cannot harm the vehicle.
Eventually the Necrons have too much OBJECTIVE CONTROL and the two space marine leaders have to concede .
Well done Link and combat patrol was definitely a better size of battle for us today .
The Tyranids began with forces held in Reserve. Gargoyles in Deep Strike and Screamer Killer and Psychophage in Strategic Reserve. The Marines went force and the infernus squad took the right-centre building. The Leapers attacked them but were wiped out leaving the way open for the Primes. The infernus were destroyed but the Phobos leader survived and retired.
The Primes held off the assault squad but were then brought down by heavy concentrated firepower. The captain stole the VP point on the far side but this drew out the Screamer Killer who was unstoppable even when the Dreadnaught arrived.
Finally the Terminators took out the Tyranids in the centre, including the Tervigon and Neurotyrant and their guards.
The psychophage and barbagaunts took out the sternguard on the left and the gargoyles snuck around and set up a beacon in the marines deployment zone.
Victory went to the marines by 54 to 52 points! Well done Link.
Bruce, Mike, Darryl and Phil continued their campaign with the Clueless Five. Having escaped the Balrog they sought to escape the depths of Moria with the Crown.
Victory was achieved but at the cost of quite a few corruption points especially for Phil’s two characters!
Next is the final reckoning. Hope all that corruption does not come back to haunt us!
Phil, Mike and Darryl continued with the final scenario from the fellowship box and then opened up the new two towers box.
The final scenario of the first box took a couple of goes and then we were flying through the scenarios in the new box. The siege of helms deep proved tricky though with all those orcs and the need to get all the characters through before the final round.
We messed up the deal on our last round so will need to play that again . One orc was left under Gimli . It was very late so we look forward to our next attempt!
