Karel Preuss

Doc. PhDr. Karel Preuss, CSc. (70) graduated at the Faculty of Philosophy of The Charles University in Prague (Mgr. 1973)., Following his graduation he worked in the field of oriental archaeology, and since the late seventies he increasingly specialized in epistemology, theory of management of science (in humanities) and strategy (CSc. 1983). During this period he was also engaged in computerization in humanities (namely the creation of a database with a direct graphic output and specialist systems). From the early nineties he radically changed his professional activities and moved into the fields of entrepreneurship and business, economy and global issues. His career included several opportunities to work abroad (Germany, Egypt, Russia – one semester teaching at the Lomonosow University in Moscow, Portugal, Denmark, Russian Federation, Lithuania, Kazakhstan). He has published over 60 studies and articles – most of them abroad (Germany, Great Britain, Russia, Finland, Slovakia, Austria) and 5 treatise books. He initiated, coordinated and was the main author of the publication “Sector Trends in The Czech Republic 1993”, the first such publication in Central Europe. In 1990 he launched a successful consultancy firm String Consulting. He successfully completed a course for consultants in economy and management organized by ILO Geneva (1991). In 1992 – he became an associate member of The Institute of Management Consultants in London. In 2003 he joined the Banking Institute, the first private Higher Education Facility in the Czech Republic as a Vice-Rector, which position he hold until 2010. He also established the chair of management here. He is also a member of the scientific board of the international journal „Fundamental and applied research in cooperative sector” (ISSN 2076-9288). Currently he concerns himself with the issues of strategic management.
