Online Education as an Integral Part of Universities’ Strategy

It had been growing even before. The main objective of this study is therefore to explore how online teaching has changed. It addresses experience and opinions of educators of Czech and Slovak universities in the period from the first days of the COVID-19 lockdown (March 2020) till the peak of its second wave (May 2021). To examine the impact of disharmony, the authors investigated Czech and Slovak university educators' activities and behaviour during their online teaching. A descriptive statistics approach was applied. A total of 172 educators participated in our online survey. Our results reveal that online teaching has become a fundamental component of their education. Our outcomes demonstrate their low preparation for this unexpected event as well as their quick adaptation to the new situation. Additionally, data indicate that their difficulties reconcile their previous experience and teaching practices with online teaching. Finally, they show that about half of them are still sceptical about the future of online education and dream of return to traditional teaching. Our results also indicate that universities should facilitate their efforts in developing online education methodology and overall support to their educators.

Massification of Online Education: A Holistic Strategy

Online courses were quite exceptional at most universities and factually non-existing at lower levels of schools. When the pandemic locked them down, they faced a shock because they have virtually no experience and had to improvise. This learned them about the importance of online education as a replacement for classroom education. During the short period (March-June 2020), they gained some positive results and experience. Nevertheless, many of their educational practices have not been coordinated and standardized; they still suffer from being far from an optimum. For years, the authors were educators at the sole Slovak university with a long-term strategy of online education. Every course has its online partner and all students can select between its online and on-site format. Such education has been demanding due to its necessity to develop and to perform both “soft” and “hard” teaching methodologies and practices. At the same time, in times of the pandemic they proved their value. Below we outline a strategy, which can be used for reaching a similar goal. We point to a variety of factors: the organization of the work, design and development of courses, staff development, teachers' personality, their knowledge, specific skills and expected experience. It guarantees the sustainability of top-quality teaching and learning. Another our aim is to demonstrate that such a holistic approach can lead to a global change in the Slovak educational system - to Open Education. The goal of improving the quality of higher education is to bring different forms of study closer to content. Based on my own experience, I know it is possible. But only with motivated teachers, technically talented teachers using electronic tools appropriate for a specific subject on the sustained LMS platform, but especially with the necessary institutional support of top management. This paper describes the system of work while applying the most demanding subject in Moodle. The course is intended for both students of the day-today full-time study method and for students studying via a distance method. The platform of the subject is also used by students of both branches of the School of Management-in Trenčín and Bratislava.

It lists the objectives, tasks and application areas of DM. It highlights the diversity of classification tasks of DM. It analyses data while using software systems for real DM projects. It shows the results of the survey of Gregory Piatetsky-Shapiro in 2009 and 2014. Furthermore, the article points out the current process of increasing the value of enterprise information system with innovative DM applications and appointed obstacles on this path. IT proposes ways to overcome these barriers. It analyses the use of DM in the quality of production in the world. Special tools are devoted to the use of DM in meeting of the challenges of production quality in the manufacturing sector. It provides software systems that are currently used in production quality. Methodology/Approach: Examination of the concept of data mining in relation to computer aided and quality production is used....
