Lyra sensor & LyraCam

3D perception camera system for robotics and XR

Funded by the European Union under GA No. 101218255 [Project SPAES]

The Lyra Smart Camera is a revolutionary spatial perception solution engineered for the most demanding autonomous robotics, Machine Vision, and Extended Reality (XR) platforms. By leveraging proprietary SPAES® (Single-Photon Active Event Sensor) technology, this system achieves a paradigm shift in performance, offering high-accuracy 3D data with the industry’s lowest Size, Weight, Power, and Cost (low SWaP-C) profile.

Unlike traditional vision systems, the Lyra Smart Camera integrates active event sensing with high-speed imaging to deliver a synchronized, multimodal dataset. This makes it uniquely capable of operating in environments that baffle standard sensors, such as high-glare settings, dusty conditions, or when dealing with complex, non-cooperative surfaces.

More about LyraCam and the project

The EIC-funded SPAES project is advancing our patented SPAES® sensing technology, which is being commercialised through products such as LyraCam.

LyraCam/P demo at GITEX AI Europe (Berlin)
30 June – 1 July 2026

We have been selected to participate in GITEX AI Europe 2026, as part of the EIC Pavilion.
We ran live demos of the LyraCam/P, our 3D perception camera for XR and robotics. It pairs our Single Photon Active Event Sensor (SPAES®) with a novel Laser Beam Scanner — an architecture that decouples spatial resolution from power draw and lets us capture depth at high speed with extreme power efficiency. Reaching TRL 7 with the LyraCam/P closes out our first year of SPAES project activities under the EIC Accelerator and puts a system-level demonstrator in front of real integration use cases.

Real-time acquisition of human contextual data

AI agents will soon offer personal assistance in our daily lives, learning from users' interactions and adapting to their unique patterns and habits. This will enable a more seamless and efficient user experience.

To achieve this, assistants must anticipate the user's needs, the environment, and understand the context.

This requires a new type of models that rely on a new kind of frontier human data. We use attention-based selective data gathering to capture just the relevant data and only when it is relevant.

This will enable new AI abilities, such as:

    AI assistant
    can anticipate needs
    without prompting

    Distinguish between
    casual browsing
    and genuine interest

    Identify what
    draws your eye
    in a shared image

    Gathering relevant data

VoxelSensors developed a low-bandwidth, low-power process that can run on elegant form factor smart glasses while providing quality data to AI powerhouses. The optimized on-device solution combines two key innovations:

Today’s best, most efficient sensors coupled with an attention-triggered data tagging and correlation process designed to capture just the relevant data and only when it is relevant.
